Hospitals range from being the happiest and scariest place on earth for people. Allegheny Health Network (AHN) works hard to not only help others, but ensure they feel comfortable at their hospitals.
AHN has 14 locations based in Western Pennsylvania and Western New York. ArtLine has worked with AHN many times over the years to turn their ideas into a reality. It was my job at ArtLine to envision their ideas before production.
Patient Communication Boards
One of my favorite projects for AHN was creating Patient Communication Boards for their Wexford Hospital. The client found that their current boards were “too crowded and hard to read”. They wanted a simple, contemporary design that was aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. I spent hours ensuring the important information remained, while leaving room for the nurses to write.
I designed two orientations: vertical and horizontal. I used a wide, bold typeface to increase readability. I incorporated their branding colors, while keeping the design minimal. I also left big boxes of empty space, instead of filling them with writing lines. This way, the nurses have more space to write what they need.
After presenting my designs to the client, they loved them! They thought the design encompassed everything they were going for. Since they loved the design, they requested that I redesign all their Patient Communication Boards, from labor to emergency rooms, across all their locations.
My designs are currently in production and ready to help nurses more effectively communicate with their patients.
3D Mockups
AHN often requested new ways to incorporate artwork into their spaces. At ArtLine, my design leads and I would come up with creative solutions based on their ideas.
After developing product concepts, I would design 3D Mockups to present to the client. Below are a few of my favorite mockups I created for their various hospital locations. These mockups lead to new ideas and final products.
